Applegate Reservoir ride

This is by far the most popular of all the Ruch area rides in this guide. To date it's the only one I've ever met another biker on. The trail seems made for bikes, smooth, plenty wide, and just enough technical difficulty to keep you alert. No need for a profile image, there's only 200´ of elevation change. The 17 miles can be done in less than two hours if you stomp on the pedals, but with so many swimming holes and viewpoints along the way it's not an easy task.

Driving directions:
Drive maybe a quarter mile past the Applegate reservoir dam on Upper Applegate Road and turn left into the Swayne Viewpoint parking area.

The ride:
There doesn't seem to be any rules regarding direction, I've meet bikes head-on both ways with no complaining. Directions aren't really necessary, just make sure you stay on the trail that's closest to the water. Checking the map and making a note of which kind of surface you will be on will help. Folks sensitive to poison oak may want to wear long sleeves.

Note: The blue dashed line is sigletrack, black is pavement, and brown is gravel.

Couldn't find any pics of the trail so this will have to do. Trust me, it's a beautiful trail.
